The Michigan Infrastructure Council is holding its second series of Asset Management Communication and Coordination Summits this fall to facilitate a collaborative, coordinated, and consistent infrastructure asset management strategy in Michigan.
The event facilitated a conversation about challenges, opportunities, successes, and barriers to effective and efficient asset management within the region. While more information-sharing efforts between counties and technology advancements are enabling better collaboration, attendees still recognized a great need for more uniformity and long-term solutions to asset management issues.

This report was guided by input from Michigan communities, including stakeholders from regional government, and academic and business leaders, who met to evaluate potential implications associated with the connected and automated vehicle technology.

Connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technologies have the potential to change transportation on a global scale. These technologies could improve safety, significantly alter transportation costs, and change traffic patterns and congestion.
More than 50 stakeholders from local units of government, transportation authorities, nonprofits, workforce development agencies, and economic development organizations gathered for the Greater Ann Arbor Region Stakeholder Summit on November 17, 2016 at Weber’s Ann Arbor.
This event will include a regional stakeholder gathering to learn about the projects completed in the region and to discuss future priorities, a networking lunch, and a special session on preparing our communities for connected and autonomous vehicles.
The region’s prosperity initiative management team recently made the decision to refer to Region 9 as the Greater Ann Arbor Region, which will leverage the existing name and brand created by economic developers across the area and help to unify our work.
The Greater Ann Arbor Region hosted a familiarization tour for site selectors on September 15–17, 2016. These site selectors produce 30 percent of the leads for companies interested in relocation or expansion into the region.
